Myko

I knew Myko was special the first time I saw him.

He was a stray that had been turned in to Animal Services just before Thanksgiving, 2023. I couldn't stop showing off his picture. I wasn't even thinking about adopting at the time, but something about his calm face and beautiful coloring caught my eyes.

When we transferred him in to Woods, he was calm and sweet and could hardly stay still for me to take his intake photo. I named him Bedazzle because he looked like he was covered in glitter. I didn't bother checking if he was male or female: he was a tortie, of course that's a girl! The next day, I got an email from our medical department telling me that he has two testicles, surprise!

After working with Woods for 7 years and handling thousands of kittens he was the first male tortie I had ever met.

And then I really couldn't stop thinking about him. Every time I had a break I was over by his tower cuddling him and playing with him. He was neutered on a Friday and on Saturday I kept him in my office all day, where he slept on the desk in front of my computer. I took him home at the end of the day, and he hasn't left since.

He's now a giant, sleek boy who loves his outdoor adventures and turning cardboard into confetti. He likes to pretend he's above cuddling and humans during the day, but when it's bedtime, he can't wait to press as close as possible, even on the hottest days. I wouldn't have it any other way.
